 Every digital press works one of two ways. Neither is "better" — they're suited to different jobs .

Dry Toner

 Toner powder is electrostatically applied and fused onto the material with heat — the same basic principle as a laser printer, scaled up for continuous industrial production. Typically food-safe and consistent, well suited to label production on paper, film and foil. 

Inkjet

Liquid ink is jetted directly onto the material and cured as it prints, often with UV light. It handles a different set of finishes well — glossy, tactile, high-durability results.
